A dip in the INKWELL June 01, 2005 It's nice that the sun is finally coming out once and a while. Memorial Day weekend was halfway decent, although I was too tired Sunday evening to go to the cook out the missus and I were invited to. Plus I had had too much junk food already, and would have just eaten more. Deep Throat has been revealed. Hmph. I guess it just never piqued my interest - I didn't care so much who it was as why he did it. And now we know: he was a vindictive little tool who was pissed off at Nixon for passing him over as head of the FBI. Now he's going public becasue the family thinks there might be some money it. All Republicans are the same. Read Eileen McNamara's piece in the Globe today. (No, I'm not going to link to it. Go buy a newspaper and read it! Sheesh!) It's the first of the month and I spent the first 4 hours of the day busting my hump to get the monthly reports to the President's office before noon. Now I'm goofing off. Feh, I pull my weight around here, I deserve it. The s*$%-for-brains in the front office actually emailed me yesterday to ask if I could come up front and reprogram the fax machine to print a confirmation page after each transmission. Gee, if you'd paid attention when the technician came and set the mahcine up, you'd know how to do that. I don't ask you to come proof read (should that be all one word?) my reports. I have to fast tomorrow night (no food after 9 p.m.) and get some blood drawn Friday morning. Hopefully things have improved (blood sugar wise) and not gotten worse (cholesterol wise) so I don't need to go on anymore meds. Even with insurance I am paying $47 a month on pills and supplies. Not a bank-breaker, I know, but that's over $500 a year I could be spending on bow ties, fountain pens and books! Since they're in the same building, I am going to pick out some new eyeglass frames after I get my bloodwork done Friday. I got my eyes checked shortly after my diabetes was diagnosed, and my prescription changed slightly from the one I got three years ago (my optometrist was actually pretty impressed with my vision and the overall condition of my eyes). I am thinking of going back to round, wire-frame "granny glasses" with the cable temple pieces. I always liked the way my old glasses stayed on my face without slipping down my nose. Plus then I could get those cool clip-on sunglass attachments like the missus has. I'm just rambling; it's time to get some work done, m'kay? |
